For a relaxing massage, I prefer giving and receiving on a massage table, but for a deep tissue massage, I prefer giving on a floor mat .

Any location works for me, but as the surface changes, the type of massage I am willing to do shall change. Each requires and is effective for different modalities. For most therapuetic techniques, for example, a soft bed would be a poor choice.

A massage table is the appropriate place which is why they make them. With a table it is easier to get to all areas of the back, neck and head. Having said that, there are certain massage techniques that are easier to do on a mat or futon.

I like a table and this is my first preference. I like to be walked on, so most people don’t have access to the bars overhead for stability. A bed works okay too as well as the floor.

Sometimes the table hurts my kneecap, even with a pillow, but a bed kinks my neck, especially with a pillow.

I am 5-10 tall table work best for me, its easier to work with the receiver to access all body when needed. Also for sports massage I can add more power if needed.

Prefer a bed makes it a lot easier with b2b massages plus there’s more room and when you need to stand up massage certain areas it still works out well. Some massage tables can be super uncomfortable for a guy too.

I prefer giving a massage on a table for the height and once you have been trained on using a table the deviation from it feels unnatural not to say I can't adapt but also if the bed is too soft both parties are going to sink in and have to compensate.

It's a no-brainer really. You can't give a thorough full body massage - and be comfortable while doing it - on anything other than a massage table.

Any professional would agree that the table or chair is best for body work. Any other option hinders the therapist from providing the best service they know how to. It’s how we were trained and it should be how we continue to practice. If the session takes a turn towards sensual or intimate, obviously a bed would be best, and if that’s the clients initial intent, clients could suggest that the table be set up in the bedroom upon arrival

Table best and offers greater access whether for therapeutic or sensual massage.

A bed allows more physical contact and more choices are available like using lots of oil with a plastic liner under the sheets for both therapeutic and Sensual Massage. My style is giving and enjoying the other person getting pleasure from my touch.

Same as most said, easier to move around and access the whole body. I don't know about others but, I have plenty of extra padding on my table so it is comfy and the table is strong enough to support 2 people (hehehe).

A massage table is better than a bed imo, for sensual massage as well as therapeutic massage. Beds may be better for sex, lol, and I wonder if this is what people are alluding to, when they say they prefer beds. If a bed has to be used, a single bed is better imo, as it allows the person giving the massage much more comfortable access to all parts of the recipients body.

Depending on the massage technique , I have used all listed locations to perform an amazing bonding massage experience. It also depends on the medium I'm working with. The end result is a safe , relaxing location to bond with and energies your partner. Improvise is the key word to satisfaction and a higher level of self.

I prefer the surface that best meets the type of massage I am receiving. In Thailand I came to appreciate floors and wide surfaces. In Japan, the mats. It really depends.

I will only do on a table as tried a bed 2 times and did not enjoy it. When on a bed the guy seems to crowd you so I did not enjoy as much.

I prefer the table to be able to easily access my massage partners full body and him to touch me while I massage. But, if a bed is the available option I’m great with that as well. The bed does allow easier availability to full body contact.

I like the table. For folks who like the floor for more pressure, More pressure can be applied to the glutes and back by doing a table mount, crawling up the end of the table. Table is much better for long term support of the back and much easier on the wrists.

Massage table is best for both client and therapist.. you have the means to address the person without causing undue strain and bad body postures. Massage chair is great for portability and immediate addressing of upper back, neck, shoulders, arms, hands, neck and head. But its poor for getting to the legs and feet as well as lower back. -- Bed is OK but a therapist will definitely feel the impact. Floor mat is OK for Thai massage but not the others as you cause intense strain to your back, neck and hands.

Love all options...but the bed. So I can spread my legs properly and be properly massaged

A strong stable massage table is preferable as gives masseur full access at a comfortable height avoiding problem of trying to reach over a bedside etc and the oils can be set nearby. Ideally the table is padded with a head rest with face hole so subject has head supported but can breathe easily while face down. A bed or floormat can be used and may be easier for body to body sensous massage. However I am completely at ease to use what ever my host has available and their preference as long as the room is warm before I take my clothes off :-)

It really depends on the set up and the persons comfort levels.. on the floor and being on top can apply more pressure and can be an amazing experience being in this position and working your skills.. but can be too intimate especially for a first meet.

Massage table with the right accessories allows for all areas of the body to be easily accessed and gives total fluidity to the masseur so the rhythm isn’t broken and the subject is completely at ease .. I would always go with the flow as all have their merits.. the ideal with a regular subject is to change the setup to add new ideas and be creative

The table is the easiest way to reach all needed areas.

Unfortunately the only way I can give a quality massage is when using a table and it must be set high. It does not really matter when receiving because my lumbar is accessable from any of the above mentioned items.

Massage Table is the best choice for me, since we can adjust the table height for different size exchange partners and it's easy to walk around thd table. 2nd option would be bed, but it's not really ideal for giving a massage. 3rd option is the floor with air an mattress for a nuru massage.

I honestly don’t see how as anyone could prefer any of these alternatives if a table was available regardless.
