I am healthy, fit, and young at heart, and I love to cycle, hike, and otherwise stay fit and active. Because of my activeness, I also seek massage frequently to soothe my aching muscles. So, trading is a very economical solution for me! When I was only 20 (long ago), I completed 150 hours of training in basic Swedish massage techniques and worked part-time for about a year at a spa in Sacramento. But I never progressed further with formal training. However, I have traded massages with many other MTs who have kindly taught me several other valuable techniques for deep tissue / sports massage and Hawaiian Lomi Lomi (my favorite modality to give or receive), and I frequently get rave reviews and referrals from those with whom I trade massages.
