First qualification is in the genes. At some point of family parties, one cousin would start giving a neck massage and others would either pair up or get in line according to their skill. my line got long at an early age. Later in life I started having muscle spasms and started getting professional massages and really paid attention to what felt good to me and learned how to duplicate the feeling as well as finding my partners "spots".
