I got to experience what the reviews teased about in a swap with afg. What an amazing experience. We had mutual investments in sense development and energy work, so it felt kinda like old-home week, even though we'd never met. Magic happens when the intention to LISTEN (whether though your ears or body) initiates expression (again...mouth, hands, etc.) afg has wonderful technique where he'll work on an area, all while sensing tension or resistance. His work is like a lovely conversation...facilitating relationship--within the body. If you're invested in bodywork, you owe it to yourself and your practice to swap with someone like afg. You leave not only having a brilliant massage, but with a different awareness of your body, and what bodywork can provide for a truly well being. WOW is all I can say about Alan, he is a kind warm soul who greets you with a big hug at the door. I have to agree with several of the other reviewers; you need to give Alan a massage first because once he gets you on the table you will melt and be useless in a good way.
I have seen Alan twice: July 3rd of this year and last night. I travel to LA for business and happened to connect with Alan in July. He graciously met with me in the evening of July 3rd. He gave me on of the best massages I have ever had. Alan took the time to connect with me through words first after our hug and then through touch. Alan is a giving person it is very evident that he loves to give massages. Once he started I faded of into another world of relaxation and pleasure. I lost track of time face down on his table. He has a special room set aside in his house for massages. Great music at the right volume, darkened with just candle light for the room.
On the first meeting we started late so I did not have a chance for an exchange and last night he massaged me first, he gives such an amazing massage that I was soo relaxed I could not return the gift. It was just that a gift of touch and connection. He did some stretching with me which really loosened my hips, legs and ankles up. I am grateful for the time we spent together.
Please take this away from my review: Alan is a experience masseur, who is not clinical but rather in-tuned to the whole body. He is a giving person who wants you to have a chance to let go and have your body to recover. A man of any age should place Alan on the top of the list to exchange massages with when in the area.

First of all, you definitely need to offer Alan the first massage. Seriously. Secondly, everything written in all of his other reviews are absolutely true, so I'm not going to repeat what everybody else has said. This was my very first massage Exchange and I mean never choose to do this again with anyone else. Oops I will repeat other reviews saying that this indeed was magical and it was strangely spiritual. It was perfection. The whole ride I spent driving from Long Beach to Santa Monica I was very nervous, but all that melted away as we greeted each other with a big hug. I won't say how long we spent together but he spent incredible amount of time selflessly and tirelessly working to to make my body feel better. I arrive nervous and truly left with a new friend. I will always look forward to our next visits. You will too. Ask to see the younger picture of him. OMG

I was finally able to make my schedule during this travel trip to Los Angeles match with "afg" as our first contact was over a year ago on one of my previous trip to Los Angeles area. It was well worth the wait. His greeting was warm and with our conversation to start with insure that there would be comfort level between us. As stated by previous reviews, the massage area was very appointed and set the mood for a wonderful exchange. As I have gym workout nearly daily, I have soreness that I get use to and his muscle release technique got to all those areas that I wasn't aware of. In my many years on here, I had not experienced a massage like one I received from "alg". The time of his massage was like it had just started only find that it was way beyond the usual exchange. After our exchange we continued our talk to insight of his massage technique and only due to time limitations, it could have gone for many more hours. It is a shame that we are so far apart, as I would make point to exchange with "alg" every few months just to release those tensions but to get more insight to his work.
He is everything he said he was. And his touch was quite magical. A good person that I felt a connection to. I hope that he will have the time to meet up again in the very near furture.
Yesterday I was very happy to meet up with afg who is extremely accommodating with a very professional massage room set up.(dim light, soft music, heater, lotions, and the best is the massage table with the place to rest your arms....) He welcomed me as a very close friend that we haven't seen each other for long time. This was followed by a brief chat confirming if there were areas we were unhappy about being touched, allowing for a warm and relaxed atmosphere. We then did a nice connecting hug.. afg gave me a very relaxing and stimulating unhurried massage. I felt very relaxing on every inches on my body. Overall I would say as good as many professional massages I have received. I would strongly recommend afg to anyone. Best swap I have had. It was worth the hour and a half travel. It was wonderful massage. I'm sure I will visit him again. Thanks afg.
afg is a very kind and knowledgeable therapist. He came to my hotel with the all the necessary equipment with a massage table, linens, towels, and oils. He gave me a thoroughly un rushed session. His technique use a different approach that works on muscle release which felt as heat. He showed me a few stretches as well. He is very happy to share his knowledge. At the end of the session I felt relaxed and even taller. If you get the opportunity to exchange take it. Thanks afg.
