I've worked all my life in sport and sports coaching, and have had my share of muscle aches and injuries. As a result, I've received a great many therapeutic massages, mostly from professional therapists. So although I've received no formal training, my experience as a recipient has helped to inform and shape my practice when giving massage myself. On the other side of the fence, there have also been many occasions when I've helped my coaching clients recover from stiffness and minor muscle-strain by providing them with a massage. Over the years, I've given lots of massages in this way, and have received good feedback from those I've worked on. One approach that I'm interested in developing is the use of breath control, body awareness and progressive relaxation to enhance the effectiveness of massage. I'd be particularly interested in exchanging with anyone who has experience in this area.
