I have received many massages. I have learned many techniques just by having them done on me. I also have self massaged to figure out what is therapeutic. I am also open to receiving criticism or requests as to what a person needs or wants to have done.
Part of the therapeutic aspect of massage is simply having physical contact with another human being. It is a biological need in order to be healthy. Some get enough human contact in their daily routine and some don't. Massage is a great way to get this simple yet crucial need met.
