More About Me
I became interested in massage back in the early/mid-80s, starting (as so many of us did) with George Downing's "The Massage Book" and taking it from there. I did a lot of amateur trading with friends (backrubs) and lovers (more than backrubs) for many years but that mostly got put on hold after college. Around 1999-2000 I was looking for a change of pace between careers and decided to go to massage school (Baltimore School of Massage - I think the name lives on, but the original school has closed/changed ownership since I went there). I was originally enrolled in their 610 hour medical massage program but left after only completing 500 hours (Basic/Swedish, Intermediate/Deep Tissue, and Advanced / Myofascial Release), so I technically didn't graduate from their program because I didn't do the 110 "Medical Massage" hours. (The irony is that I was so blown away with the physiology coursework that I decided to go back to school to pursue a career in medicine.. ...and am now an MD!) I haven't had a lot of opportunity to get or give massages recently; life has been busy. I've been married for the past 10 years to a non-massage enthusiast and since completing medical school and residency I've been busy with kids and building my medical practice. Now that we're in the process of (amicably) separating I'm hoping to slake my touch-thirst a bit. I'd say I was pretty talented back in the day but admit to being slightly rusty from lack of recent practice (don't worry... it mostly washes off.) I don't have any expectations of a massage-buddy/friend beyond starting with mutual respect, basic skills, a relaxed/relaxing environment, and a willingness to communicate. Not really looking for a relationship right now but would be delighted to make new friends and maybe start having a bit of a life now and then. Currently the only private space I have available is my office (Durham) after hours or on weekends but I expect to be moving into a new apartment (Cary/Morrisville) relatively soon.
