Although I am not professionally trained, many people (including my massage therapist) have told me that my massages are as good as any they've ever received. I learned how to give massages by reading books and watching videos, but mostly by doing.
I think that the key to giving a great massage is not just doing it well technically, but also putting positive energy and intent behind it.
You can give a massage that is technically perfect, and if you just "phone it in," it won't be that good. Conversely, you can have only a rudimentary knowledge of massage technique, but if you put caring emotions behind it, the other person will enjoy it.
