More About Me (Therapeutic Directory)
In 2005, I completed the 200 hour course for Certified Massage Therapist (CMT) @ Touch Therapy Institute in Encino (later bought by National Holistic Institute), then took additional workshops (including Reiki level 1 & 2) to reach 300 hours required (at the time) for becoming licensed massage therapist in LA County.
I never worked professionally as a masseur, but I have provided volunteer bodywork services at events like Burning Man & for friends/family/self. I pursued these modalities for personal growth, curiosity & because I was burned out on my desk job. I have also studied &/or practiced taoism, buddhism, kung fu, yoga (prefer Iyengar) & have dabbled in shamanistic practices. I also have degrees in Psychology, Philosophy & Law.
FWIW, my meditation practice led to enlightenment in 2004, but it was temporary & faded over time. I'm not currently enlightened (as I view it) because I am mired in the self/ego illusion same as most people. However, I am aware that enlightenment exists & can be reached & I vaguely recall how it felt & what it means, so there's that (small clap). I've watched a couple videos on Eckart Tolle & it looks to me like he's the real deal (i.e., achieved enlightenment), his descriptions of enlightenment match my own recollections. If you want to know what enlightenment is, how to achieve it, I can share what I know (or more accurately share what I don't know) but knowing the path is not the same as controlling the path, so no Matrix powers, sorry, & you might do as well just watching some of Eckart's videos. If you want the short answer on the meaning of life, it’s 42.
Also, FWIW, I'm highly intelligent (valedictorian, 99th percentile on standardized tests, academic scholarships, etc.) but the trade off is that I seem to have some autism / social anxiety / shyness / nerdiness; however, I’m high functioning regardless, & generally pass for neurotypical, but for my tendency to be brutally honest with people. (Some people like honesty.)
That all aside (whew!!!) I'm mostly just a guy who knows quite a bit about bodywork & holistic modalities, but I don't use those skills professionally. I've been working out more the last year, trying to improve my fitness, & now have various knots in my muscles, realized I could use some GOOD therapeutic massage, thought instead of paying for massage, maybe I could exchange with another massage therapist, so googled “massage exchange” & found this site, so here I am.
