I’ve always been a huge fan of bodywork, but I used to be very shy about anyone touching my body. As someone with a more voluptuous, fuller figure, I’ve often felt self-conscious and insecure about getting massages. That all changed when I had my first full-body massage – I was hooked. I had no idea how deeply healing it could be, on so many levels. While my experience giving massages has been limited to back rubs, I typically seek out someone who can focus on my neck, shoulders, and back. However, when I receive a full-body session, I realize just how much tension I carry in other areas of my body. I’m also hoping to find more therapists who are willing to work on my glutes and pectoral muscles – when these areas are addressed, it almost brings me to tears, as I carry so much tension there.
