More About Me (Therapeutic Directory)
I generally use tokens to make contact with prospective partners, so if you are interested in an exchange feel free to send me an appropriate greeting and I'll get back to you (my settings allow such greetings, may be useful if you could do the same), in the past I have been happy to travel up to 50-60 miles as I do travel a lot for work and sport related activities (competing, coaching etc).
I occasionally exchange treatments with friends from my Swedish and Sports Massage courses, but I would be interested in learning other techniques and helping others develop theirs (I'm teaching one friend some sports techniques). Constantly reading books and viewing videos on different massage techniques so I'm also happy just to provide a massage if there is not time for a full exchange.
I am qualified in Sports and Swedish Massage (Level 3), and I am currently looking to enrol on a level 4 sports massage course at local colleges, but it seems this year there are not enough people to make it viable, so if anyone knows of a course running locally this year I'd be interested. I have also attended CPD courses on, and actually teach, biomechanical analysis which is useful for analysing clients and giving an insight into issues that may be corrected or relieved by massage. I am hoping to start a course on Neuromuscular Massage Techniques which I have experienced myself with great success (and a certain amount of discomfort!). I also have experience in posture analysis, and can advise on strategies to improve posture and non-genetic posture issues.
I teach Anatomy, Biomechanics and Sports Injuries (which includes massage), I am also a part-time Triathlon and Swimming coach which is what got me interested in massage in the first place. I also compete in long distance triathlons, so find regular massage invaluable
I find working with different clients helps develop my palpation and functional anatomy skills so I'm interested in both exchanges and working with/on less experienced therapists/enthusiasts to help with their skill development with a view to longer term exchanges, or just gaining additional experience myself by working with "receive only" members.
Particularly interested in working with Female athletes, as I've worked primarily with males in the past, but I'm very aware of some of the issues female members have faced on this site, so will always suggest a social meeting in a public place prior to any exchange if that helps put you at ease.
